How much travel data do I need with my China eSIM?

Your data needs depend on trip length and phone habits. Messaging, maps and light browsing usually use less than streaming video, video calls, photo uploads or hotspot sharing. Compare your expected daily use with each plan's allowance. Unlimited plans can have different speed rules: some include a daily high-speed allowance before continuing at a reduced speed. Check the selected plan's details before you buy, and monitor usage in your phone's cellular settings.

Can I avoid high data roaming charges with a China eSIM?

Yes. When you select your China eSIM as your mobile-data line, your phone uses the eSIM’s plan for mobile data instead of your home carrier’s data-roaming service, helping you avoid high data-roaming charges. You can use WeChat to send messages and make voice or video calls in China. App availability varies by destination and service, and the people you contact need to use the same app. To avoid unexpected charges, select the China eSIM for mobile data, keep data roaming off on your home SIM, and enable data roaming on the travel eSIM only if its setup instructions require it. Calls or SMS using your home number may be charged separately by your home carrier.
