Use your South Africa eSIM across the trip

These plans cover South Africa for mobile data, whether your itinerary includes Cape Town, Johannesburg or stops between them. Your connection and available speed depend on your location, device and the local network, so a country listing does not promise uninterrupted service on every route.

If your trip continues beyond South Africa, choose a plan that explicitly lists each additional country.

Choose data for the way you travel

Fixed-data plans offer 1GB to 50GB of total data for the selected duration and stop when that allowance is used. Unlimited Essential and Plus offer 1GB or 3GB of high-speed data in each 24-hour cycle, then continue at 512kbps until the next reset. Premium is listed with unlimited high-speed data throughout the selected duration.

Navigation, messaging and email generally use less data than streaming video, video calls or large uploads. Actual use varies with your apps, settings and Wi-Fi access, so compare the selected plan’s data rule and monitor usage on your device.

When your rolling 24-hour plan starts

You have 60 days after successful order confirmation to activate the eSIM. Installing it does not start the selected 1–30-day duration. The duration begins at its first connection to a supported network in South Africa and runs in rolling 24-hour periods, rather than ending at midnight. On Essential and Plus, the high-speed allowance also resets every 24 hours from first use.

Prepare your phone for longer South African routes

South African Tourism notes that distances between towns can be long, especially on interior routes. If you are driving toward Mpumalanga’s Blyde River Canyon or other stops away from major cities, download offline maps and booking details over Wi-Fi before leaving. Keep them accessible if local service is unavailable along the way.

For mobile data, select this eSIM and enable data roaming on its line. Turn off data roaming on your home SIM to help avoid home carrier data charges. Calls or SMS on the home line may incur separate charges, and keeping that line active does not guarantee verification texts.
